The Ranch
Brush country
on its own terms
Galt Ranching sits in the rough, generous country of Val Verde County, where limestone draws, sotol flats and mesquite thickets hold more game than most people expect. We run it as a working ranch first: fences mended, water kept, herds watched year round.
Everything a guest touches out here — the lights, the well pump, the coffee at four in the morning — comes off our own two solar plants, and the quiet you get in return is the whole point.
What Walks Here
The Game
Free-range animals on unfenced desert range. Seasons, methods and bag are set by Texas Parks & Wildlife — we set you where the animals are.
Mule Deer
Ridge country bucks. Spot-and-stalk along the rimrock with a guide who knows the draws.
Wild Hog
Year-round, no closed season. Day or thermal night hunts, no bag limit on our acreage.
Javelina
Traveling in bands through the pear flats — a fast, close-quarters desert hunt.
Axis Deer
An occasional free-range visitor. Available when the herd moves onto our country.
Aoudad Sheep
Bluff-dwelling and hard-earned. The toughest walk we offer, and the best story after.

The Apiary
Desert honey,
wild sourced
Our hives work the country the same way our guests do. The bees range over guajillo, catclaw, mesquite bloom and whatever the desert wildflowers put up after a rain, and the honey we pull tastes like exactly that — dark in a dry year, light and floral after a wet spring.
We harvest it here, jar it here, and it turns up on the breakfast table with the biscuits.
